Animals
There are over 700 animals, representing around 90 different species.
In the Tropical Greenhouse, the temperature is between 25 and 30 degrees. This temperature is necessary for the well-being of the animals. We advise you to dress lightly and bring plenty of water. The vivariums in the labyrinth and the turtle houses are also kept at this temperature, which is essential for tropical reptiles.
What may seem like inactivity is in fact a period of digestion or thermoregulation for crocodiles. Crocodiles take between 3 and 5 days to digest. Crocodiles use their environment to regulate their temperature, which is why their mouths are often open. Don’t hesitate to take the time to observe them to better understand their lifestyle.
In the wild, crocodilians are animals that don’t feed daily, but only when they need to. They can go days, weeks or even months without eating. At Alligator Bay, we respect their natural rhythm by feeding them once or twice a week, then every day, depending on the season, and observing a fasting period during the winter months.
We regulate births according to the needs of Alligator bay or other wildlife parks. We have hundreds of eggs a year, but we only give birth to as many babies as we can raise on site or according to the needs of other animal parks.
Each animal has its own species-specific diet, and feeding them food not included in their diet can make them seriously ill. It is therefore strictly forbidden to feed the animals.
Visiting the park
Visiting time is free, so you can take your time discovering the animals. The average visit lasts about 2 hours. There are educational panels along the way to help you discover the world of reptiles. You can also take part in the daily activities organized throughout the day. Please consult the program of events on our website or on site.
The tour of the Alligator Greenhouse and Dragon Maze is fully covered. The outdoor area includes the Turtle Farm and play areas. 2/3 of the visit is indoors.
We’re open all year round, 7 days a week, including Sundays and public holidays. We close the site to the public in winter only outside school vacations. For precise dates, see “The Park”, “Practical info”, “Opening times”.
The entire tour is accessible by stroller or wheelchair, except for the observation structures and play areas.
Pets are not allowed in the animal parks, but we do have a tolerance for small dogs weighing less than 5 kg if they remain in a carrier bag or stroller for the duration of the visit. We reserve the right to refuse dogs after checking their size at the entrance.
There are several picnic areas, outside, covered and sheltered from the wind. You can leave your picnic in your vehicle and enter and leave the park whenever you like, provided you have requested a hand stamp beforehand. Picnics are not permitted in the Alligator Bay entrance hall.
Ice creams, chocolate bars, cookies, sweets and potato chips, as well as hot and cold drinks, are available all year round in our relaxation areas.
During the summer (July and August), we also offer a genuine snack bar with fresh produce (sandwiches, pancakes, French fries, crepes, etc.).
Alligator bay opening times vary according to the season. Go to the “Opening hours” section.
