This initiative is that of Jean-Pierre Macé, passionate about reptiles since his childhood. His collection continues to grow, with the help of his wife and children, he opened between 1990 and 1993, a temporary exhibition in a small house on the edge of Mont Saint-Michel. Following this first success, the decision is made to open to the public a permanent exhibition. This one opens on July 14, 1994 under the name of Reptilarium of Mont-Saint-Michel. In 1996, the park covers 700 m2 offering a wide variety of snakes and lizards. In 1998, the park grew to a landscaped garden of 6,000 m2 receiving land and water tortoises. After renovation, the animal park became in 2006, Alligator Bay with the addition of a 2,500 m2 area receiving crocodiles and alligators
